FFV: Win eludes Keilor Park, but draw still leaves coach smiling

KEILOR Park came close to snatching victory from Ballarat Red Devils in the men’s state league north west division 2.

Instead they had to settle for a nil-all draw.

Coach Anthony Sacco said he was happy with the result.

“Ballarat is a quality side and to get a draw away from home was a good result.

“They dominated possession for most of the game and if you had said to me before the game that we would get a draw I would have taken it.”

He said despite having to spend a lot of the match defending, the team had chances.

“The last five minutes we started to get into the game and had the better scoring opportunities.

“We hit the post and had one come off the line, so we had our chances.

“We’re happy with a draw, but the win would have been nice.”

Sacco said Keilor Park’s defence had been outstanding.

He said after a slow start to the season, it was good finally to get some results.

“We won our first match of the season, but only had a draw in the next four matches.

“We won last week and now the draw. Our season is back on track.”

Sacco said the team was looking forward to playing against Green Gully in round five of the state Knockout Cup.

“We don’t usually get to play against these guys and it will be really good experience as we have a young squad.

“At junior level we have a great rivalry going on between the two teams, so it’s good to have that opportunity at senior level.”
