A MINUTE was the difference between a draw and a loss for the Green Gully Cavaliers against Hume City in the Victorian Premier League on Friday night.
Both sides had their chances to break the nil-all deadlock, but it wasn’t until the 89th minute that a goal from Jose Guerrero gave Hume City the win.
Cavaliers general manager Raymond Mamo said they defended really well, but just couldn’t convert on the scoreboard.
“It was a really well-defended game, played hard and at a fast pace. Both teams played really well.
“They hit the crossbar a couple of times and we had our opportunities and Jonathon Munoz had an opportunity in the 87th minute, but we just couldn’t convert.
“Hopefully the boys will take that on board, that if you don’t convert you can be punished.”

He said that despite the result, the boys should be happy with their performance.
“It’s always disappointing to lose, but the boys really played well and have to hold their heads up high. It was a good game and they held on to the 89th minute.
“They shouldn’t be disappointed with that.”
He said Daniel Jones was the best in defence and was well supported by former Melbourne Victory player Roddy Vargas.
The Cavaliers face the Melbourne Knights in a local derby this Saturday afternoon.
