The 43-year-old man holed up in the house allegedly fired another shot from the house at 10am, which penetrated a wooden noise barrier on Keilor Park Drive.

A number of other roads and intersections in the area have also been closed, including:

* The corner of Hughes Road and Keilor Park Drive

* Sterling Drive from Milleara Road

* Regent Street, at both ends intersecting Sterling Drive and Parkside Avenue.

* Parkside Avenue from Sterling Drive.

Police have asked that residents and members of the public remain patient with the police and follow the instructions given.

Locals seeking information can call a resident-only hotline on 9302 3767 for updated information on access to their properties.
