MORE than 100 volunteers, such as Faye McMartin, Eunice Cooper and Rinta Galea (pictured rear), have been recognised for providing support to vulnerable and disadvantaged local residents.
Volunteers with UnitingCare Sunshine and Broadmeadows were presented with certificates at the organisation’s annual volunteers’ lunch on May 16.
Workers at the Sunshine site are involved in a range of programs.
UnitingCare Sunshine and Broadmeadows chief executive Joy Nunn (also pictured, front) says the support of volunteers allows the agency to deliver high-quality services.
She says there’s a major need in Brimbank for services to promote social inclusion.
“Sometimes just having a place to drop in and have a cup of tea and feel safe means a lot to people.”
