BRIMBANK residents have helped police nab 28 dangerous drivers during a road safety blitz in Keilor Downs and Delahey.

Police detected 36 offences in four hours on May 6 during Operation Masters, which was set up after a resident raised concerns about drivers speeding on Taylors Road.

The concerns were recorded on Brimbank police’s ‘Eyewatch’ Facebook page.

Police used automated numberplate recognition technology to scan the numberplates of cars and detect offenders.

Seven people were caught driving while disqualified or suspended; 12 were driving unregistered cars and five driving while unlicensed.

Police also caught one person for speeding and charged a Sunshine man, 24, with weapons offences after seizing a knife.

Acting Sergeant David England said police regularly acted on tip-offs from the public.

“This is a great example of the community and police working together to make our streets safer.”
