Bikers mustered for charity mission

MOTORCYCLE riders from across the state will hope to put a smile on a child’s face at Christmas as part of the Melbourne Toy Run, to be held again this year at Calder Park.

More than 15,000 motorcycles, trikes and scooters descended on the raceway last year to help fill three semi-trailers with gifts and food for underprivileged children.

Event co-ordinator Kerry Walton said the December 9 event would be bigger and better and urged Brimbank’s motorcyclists to get involved.

“It is a free event and all we ask is that people bring a toy and some non-perishable food that we will give to the Salvation Army to pass on to children in need,” he said.

Last week, Mr Walton and representatives of the Salvation Army presented Calder Park owner Bob Jane with a plaque in recognition of his service in providing the venue for the event.
