Become a loam ranger

BRIMBANK residents are being encouraged to take part in a series of composting and worm farm workshops designed to reduce green waste in landfill.

The free workshops are being run by Brimbank Council to celebrate International Composting Awareness Week from May 7-12.

Following the example of council environmental educator officer Jacqui Hilton, residents will learn to create nutritious and chemical-free fertiliser.

Half-price worm farms and compost bins will be available at council customer service centres in Keilor and Sunshine.

The first workshop will take place at Cairnlea Community Hub on May 1. Details: 9249 4000.
