BRIMBANK residents are being encouraged to take a walk and embrace a healthy lifestyle.
An initiative of the Heart Foundation and Bushwalking Victoria, Green Walks are aimed at getting more people walking more often.
Two guided walks will take place at Brimbank Park in Keilor East this Thursday from 10am.
According to the Heart Foundation, cardiovascular disease is Australia’s biggest killer, claiming a life every 46 minutes.
State chief executive Kathy Bell said cardiovascular disease was preventable with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
“Taking a ‘green walk’ will help to increase confidence, reduce stress, increase motivation and help development of social, environmental and personal skills.” she said.
The foundation recommends that people take part in physical activity, like brisk walking, for 30 minutes each
day.
