Motorcyclist killed in hit-run

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-run accident in Brooklyn about 7pm last night.

Police believe the motorcyclist allegedly tried to pass two semi-trailer trucks travelling west on Geelong Road by riding between them.

The male rider lost control and collided with one of the trucks near McDonalds Road.

The man, believed to be aged in his mid-20s, died at the scene.

Both truck drivers failed to stop at the scene but have since come forward to police.

The drivers are assisting police with enquiries.

Major Collision Investigation detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about the fatality is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.

The death takes this year’s road toll to 77 compared to 68 this time last year.
