United by the ‘world game’

REPRESENTATIVES of almost 50 cultures will come together via the ‘world game’ tomorrow to celebrate Harmony Day at Sunshine Heights Primary School.

Principal Alex Artavilla says the school is proud of the fact it brings together 46 different cultures to form a community where everyone gets along.

“Football is the most played game in the world with more than 250 million registered players playing in clubs and schools, on street corners and vacant patches of land every minute of every day,” Mr Artavilla said.

“It’s also a pleasure that many members of our school community bring with them from Vietnam, Greece, Ireland and Sudan, to name a few.”

He says pupils love to play impromptu games during breaks, with bins, shirts or jumpers marking goals.

More than 300 players including pupils, parents and staff will take part in the event from 9am-1.30pm.
