VTCA: Keilor to meet arch rivals Doutta Stars in grand final

KEILOR is preparing for a glamour Victorian Turf Cricket Association north division grand final against arch rivals Doutta Stars.

The powerhouse outfits have a disliking for each other stemming back to their days in the top flight and will fight it out over four days at Overland Reserve in East Keilor for the rights to promotion.

Of course, it will not be the first time these two sides have met in March, five seasons ago they came face to face in the senior division decider, won by the Stars. Perhaps a bit of payback is on the cards for the Blues.

Keilor, the minor premiers, made tough work of their semi-final bout with Westmeadows at Keilor Recreation Reserve last weekend.

The Blues edged out the fourth ranked Warriors by just two wickets in a thriller.

Set a challenging 207 for victory, the Blues reached the target in 84 tense overs, thanks largely to a half century from Kristian Dixon (54) and a vital 24 not out from Matt Willmott.

Syed Ali Hussain was the best of the recognised Blues batsman with 42.

This grand final is perhaps the most anticipated in north division history.

There are stars aplenty and side stories to add spice to a game that is of huge importance on its own.
