Police raid uproots $1m Deer Park crop

A POLICE raid on four Deer Park properties has uncovered up to 600 cannabis plants with a street value over $1 million.

Three Deer Park men were arrested in the raids and face a number of charges including cultivating a commercial quantity of drugs, possessing property being proceeds of crime and using a false document.

Around $100,000 worth of equipment used for cannabis cultivation was also seized.

Investigators believe the haul has made a significant impact on distribution in the western suburbs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tim O’Connor said the seizure meant the cannabis would not be available on Melbourne’s streets.

“It is an extremely pleasing result to know that we have again been able to prevent these drugs invading our community,” he said.
