WEST Australian youngster Tom Wilde, in a Mitsubishi Evo 10, has clinched his first ever win in a round of the Australian Rally Championship with victory in the opening round of the Four Wheel Drive Championship at Rally Calder on the weekend.
Honda and its lead driver, Eli Evans, celebrated their maiden ARC round wins with victory in the Two Wheel Drive Championship.
The first Rally Calder was a big hit, with thousands of people turning out to watch the championship at Calder Park.
The event featured 20 stages, with some set in urban rallying settings like tunnels and a junkyard.
Other events staged at the weekend included round one of the Australian modern and classic tarmac rally championship, an off-road rally demonstration and celebrity competition.
The event was officially launched with a driving display in Caroline Springs last Thursday.
