Recycling plant fire battled

MFB crews attended a fire at a Laverton North recycling plant about 5.25pm last Wednesday. About 50 firefighters battled high temperatures to contain the fire to the rear of the Dohertys Road property. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

Citizen’s arrest

A man made a citizen’s arrest in Sanctuary Lakes on Thursday morning after an alleged road incident escalated into a physical assault. Police were called to a shopping centre on Point Cook Road about 10.30am following reports of an assault and a citizen’s arrest made by a 51-year-old Altona Meadows man. Afterwards, police interviewed a 51-year-old Point Cook man, who was released pending further inquiries.

South Yarra driver nabbed

Wyndham police arrested a 26-year-old South Yarra woman in Rosella Avenue, Werribee, about 2.20am last Tuesday. The woman, who was driving, allegedly executed an abrupt turn and turned her headlights off after seeing a police vehicle. Police said officers discovered there was an outstanding warrant for the woman’s arrest. They allegedly found drugs and several sets of stolen number plates inside the vehicle.
