Drug bust

A strong smell eminating from a vehicle pulled over by police has landed a 25-year-old Hoppers Crossing man in trouble. The man was charged with trafficking and possessing drugs after officers noticed a strong smell when they flagged down a vehicle in Hogans Road. Police say a search of the car revealed a large quantity of drugs.

Outstanding warrants

A 33-year-old Tarneit man was arrested on several outstanding warrants last week. On November 27, officers from Wyndham’s Community Safety Team questioned the man in Tarneit and discovered he had six outstanding warrants for not appearing in court for various driving matters. He was bailed to appear at the Werribee Magistrates Court in February next year.

Car charges

A 29-year-old Lara man has been charged with theft of number plates, evading police, driving in a dangerous manner, driving while disqualified and having an unregistered motor vehicle. Westgate Highway Patrol noticed a man driving in Hoppers Crossing on Friday and attempted to intercept his car. Police called off a chase but arrested the man soon after when mechanical issues forced him to abandon the car.
