A best-on-ground performance from Bradley Allen helped St Albans to an impressive win against Albion in the Western Region Football League on Saturday.
Allen was dangerous all over the ground, winning numerous important contests for the Saints while also having an impact on the scoreboard with three goals.
His effort helped St Albans secure its 37-point win, 15.10 (100) – 9.9 (63).
After narrowly losing to competition leader Deer Park seven days earlier, the Saints wasted no time putting the disappointment behind them during a strong first half. St Albans booted seven goals, limiting Albion to just one and building a 28-point lead in the process.
The Cats tried to narrow the margin after the break, with Todd Finco working hard in the midfield, while James Thompson upped the pressure around the ground.
The Saints’ class shone through with a four-goal final term, helping the club to its fourth win of the season.
The victory keeps St Albans in fifth spot on the division 1 ladder. The Saints have a golden opportunity to make it back-to-back this weekend when they take on competition strugglers Port Melbourne.
Albion, winless from eight matches, has a bye this weekend.
Elsewhere in round eight, Spotswood defeated Sunshine by one point and Deer Park smashed Port Melbourne by 200 points.
