A cyclist has suffered leg injuries after colliding with a tram in Flemington.
The tram and cyclist collided on Mt Alexander Road shortly before 11am on Thursday.
The male cyclist, aged in his 20s, was trapped under the tram for about 15 minutes before being freed by firefighters.
He was treated at the scene for significant lacerations to his upper thighs before being taken by ambulance to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.
Some witnesses claim they saw a car swerve and drive off moments before the collision, but it is unclear whether that played a part in the crash, radio station 3AW reported.
Police are investigating the incident.
