Caroline Springs has been on a rollercoaster ride throughout the first half of the Western Region Football League season.
After three rounds, the Lakers were ninth in division 1, without a win to their name and holding a disappointing percentage of just 56.
Two weeks later, they had almost squared their win-loss ledger following victories against Sunshine Heights and North Footscray.
But just when it looked as though the club had turned a corner, the weekend brought another twist.
The Lakers fell to fellow finals contender Yarraville-Seddon by 103 points.

Caroline Springs coach Paul Growcott said his side was taking a while to gel.
Speaking before his side’s match at the weekend, Growcott was full of praise for the back six, which he said had done a great job under a lot of pressure.
“I think the midfield has been solid but I think the backline has been outstanding,” he said. “Those guys have really stood up.”
Caroline Springs is preparing for another tough stretch in which it will take on the top three sides in consecutive weeks.
Despite a 0-3 record against Wyndhamvale, West Footscray and Manor Lakes, Growcott said there were plenty of positives to be taken from their earlier hit-outs.
“West Footscray is a good side,” he said. “We were able to match it with them for a half but just fell away. Wyndhamvale got the jump on us but we were able to play a good second half.
“Manor Lakes was probably the most disappointing result. I thought we were the better side all day but just didn’t capitalise on our forward entries.”
