The fine china will stay in the cupboard when Sally Potter has her Biggest Morning Tea next month.
Instead, sleeves will be rolled up and flour will fly in a special bake-off on June 8 in memory of Ms Potter’s father, who died from non-Hodgkin lymphoma when she was 16 years old.
The Taylors Lakes resident is one of more than 150 people from Brimbank registered for the special cancer research fundraising event.
This is her sixth Biggest Morning Tea.
“We raise an average of $250 at every event,” Ms Potter said.
“This doesn’t sound like much but it adds up.”
Last year, 113 Brimbank morning tea events raised $51,898 towards the national effort and the Cancer Council needs more Brimbank hosts to join the almost 23,000 events already registered across the country.
The official date is May 28, but events are held in May and June.
