Basketball

It was a great night for Keilor in women’s Big V basketball on Saturday as the Thunder secured a vital 71-50 win over western suburbs rival Werribee. After trailing by two points at quarter-time, the Thunder made all the right moves when play resumed and the points started flowing. Keilor snatched the momentum, scoring 22 in the second term and restricting Werribee to 12. From there, the margin continued to grow as Keilor asserted its dominance in the second half. Carly Simons was the standout for Keilor, scoring 19 points from her 22 minutes of game time. Amy Smith finished with a double-double. Georgia Tauschke was the top scorer for Werribee with
15 points.
