Avondale Heights: Man killed by own car

A man has been crushed to death after a car rolled over him in Avondale Heights on Sunday night.

Paramedics, fire crews and police were called to Capri Court just after 8.30pm.

The exact circumstances around the incident are being investigated, but police believed the car belonging to the deceased may have rolled over him.

The man – aged in his 70s but is yet to be formally identified – died at the scene.

The accident was the third fatality in Victoria in just six hours after two other men were killed in separate incidents involving a head-on collison with a truck and a hit-and-run of a cyclist.

The death brings the state’s road toll to 102, up from 91 last year.
