Height limits and design conditions to protect the historic and semi-rural character of Keilor Village will go to state Planning Minister Richard Wynne.

Brimbank council has written to the minister asking for a panel hearing to review unresolved issues raised during last year’s planning scheme amendment exhibition. Brimbank administration chairman John Watson said planning controls would help ensure future developments in Keilor Village uphold the village’s “unique and much-loved character and history”. The council wants to restrict buildings to two or three storeys, depending where they are in Keilor Village, and introduce specific conditions for shop fronts, signage and alterations. It also wants to require developers to demonstrate how new buildings will meet the council’s design objectives.
