Errington contract sealed

Brimbank council awarded the contract for Errington Community Centre’s highly anticipated $7 million-plus redevelopment to Devco Project & Construction Management Pty Ltd at last Tuesday’s council meeting. The contract includes construction of a second storey and improvements to existing facilities, including halls, meeting and activity spaces, kitchens and toilets. A 200-seat performing arts centre will be added, along with a civic entry plaza, landscaping and site improvements. The cost will be met in part by $2.5 million from the StAlbans Community Centre Co-Operative and a $500,000 state government community support fund grant. Further funding has been provided in council’s 2014-15 budget and long-term financial plan. The contract also includes about $657,000 for provisional works.
