Drugs, weapons arrest

A 45-year-old St Albans man was arrested and charged following a drug raid at a St Albans property last week.

Maribyrnong detectives seized drugs, drug equipment, cash, five firearms and ammunition after executing a search warrant at a Jacinta Way property about 10.15am on Tuesday. Van Hei Nguyen was charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence and was remanded in custody. A 42-year-old St Albans woman was also arrested but later released pending further inquiries.

Armed robbery charge

Brimbank CIU detectives have charged a 23-year-old Taylors Hill man with the armed robbery of a service station on Taylors Road last month. Police say the man was dressed in female clothing when he produced what appeared to be a home-made machine gun from a black bag and demanded money. He was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court at a later date.
