Portsea: Man survives 40m car plunge

A man has walked from his car unscathed after it plunged 40 metres down an embankment on the Mornington Peninsula.

The incident on Ocean Beach Access Road at Portsea happened sometime on Tuesday night, but the driver was only able to find his phone about 5am on Wednesday and call for help.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bentley said the man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was suffering hypothermia, but otherwise appeared to be uninjured.

“He was quite cold, given he had been in the car all night,” Mr Bentley said.

He has been taken to Frankston Hospital in a stable condition.
