No take away for bandit

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted armed robbery at a Deer Park fast food outlet last month. Brimbank Embona detectives were told a man armed with a small knife entered the store at Brimbank Central shopping centre about 9pm on March 22. He fled empty-handed when confronted by the manager. He’s described as Caucasian, in his 20s and wearing a white and blue hooded jumper. Information to Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.

Community Fund opens

Brimbank charities can apply for up to $5000 from the latest round of the Brimbank Community Fund. Brimbank Community Fund committee chairman John Tanner said the focus was on investing in young people who are struggling to stay in school, get jobs or remain healthy. The fund is a charitable account of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, and grants go towards helping not-for-profit organisations provide equipment, material aid, projects and programs. Applications close on April 17. Details at

Immunisation session

Brimbank council’s next immunisation session is at the West Sunshine Community Centre on April 9 from 2pm. Council’s immunisation service is only available to those who hold a green Medicare card. Blue Medicare cardholders are advised to contact their GP for services via the national immunisation program. For information call 9249 4919.
