Caroline Springs: Cat lady crazy on caring

A self-described “crazy cat lady” is hoping Brimbank residents leaving their feline friends behind when they head off for holidays will turn to the Cat Napping Suburban Retreat in Caroline Springs.

The cat-minding company is the brainchild of Ebony Centazzo, an avid animal enthusiast and former travel agent.

The Cat Napping facility has been open at its Eucumbene Drive location for a year. Ms Centazzo original started a cat retreat at Hoppers Crossing two years ago.

“Our main vision is to give people peace of mind,” the Point Cook resident said.

“Twenty years ago, you wouldn’t have much choice than to leave your cat in the care of neighbours, but sometimes they act strangely or don’t come home if you’re not home.”

The Caroline Springs retreat looks after about 18 cats a week, and there’s about 35 at Hoppers Crossing. But Ms Centazzo says this number can reach 55 at each centre during holiday periods such as Easter and Christmas.

“We monitor their health the whole time. We’ve even picked up on health conditions the owners hadn’t,” she said.

“This is a dream come true for me, and I love coming to work each day.”
