Copperfield College students have not had to endure the high seas to enjoy the bounty of a Community Chest.
The secondary school has been given $2500 from Morgan’s IGA in Delahey as part of the supermarket’s community donation program.
Copperfield College principal Tony Simpson said the 1900 students would use the money to undertake community service and other projects.
“We need money to release teachers to organise these things and make those partnerships, so we’re hoping to do more of that and reinvest the money in community-based projects,” Mr Simpson said.
“We already have close local connections with the retirement village and Brimbank council, so this will enable us to keep the kids involved in those sorts of things. We’re a big school and every bit helps.”
The IGA Community Chest raises funds to support communities and charities, mainly through the purchase of products with an IGA Community Chest logo on their label. From every product purchased with the logo, two cents go towards the Community Chest.
