Southern Fiesta
Southern Cross Grammar will host its Southern Fiesta on Sunday, March 22, from 11am-4pm. There will be carnival rides for all ages, market and craft stalls, food vans, a toy and book trash and treasure market, face-painting, petting zoo and hands-on reptile zoo. There’ll also be a silent auction and performances by local community groups.

Dance the night away
The Keilor branch of Parents Without Partners will host a dance on Friday, March 20, at the I.C.K.A. Club, 7 Keilor Park Drive, East Keilor, from 7.30pm. Music by DJ Charlie. Entry costs $10 for guests, $5 for members. Strict dress code: no T-shirts, jeans or sneakers.

Join the band
The Western Region Concert Band rehearses on Saturdays from 9am in the Errington Community Centre, Princess Street, St Albans. Vacancies exist for percussion, brass and sax players.

Cook up a storm
Learn how to cook dishes from a variety of cuisines using local, seasonal produce. The free class is on Saturday, March 21, at West Sunshine Community Centre, 25 Kermeen Street, Sunshine West, from 11am-2pm. A light lunch is included.

Movies in the park
Pack a picnic, bring a rug and enjoy a free movie under the stars. Earth to Echo will screen at RT Pollard Gardens, corner Hampshire Road and Corio Street, Sunshine, on Saturday, March 28. Pre-show entertainment from 6pm.
Storytime for kids
Kids of all ages can enjoy a story and fun activities in one of Brimbank’s parks. The next storytime will be on Tuesday, March 25, at Lagoon Reserve, Keilor. Bring along a rug, hat, sunscreen and a morning snack.
Volunteers needed
The Multiple Sclerosis Community Visitors Scheme needs volunteers to join its program in the western metropolitan area. Volunteers are required to visit elderly residents in aged-care facilities to offer companionship once a fortnight. Volunteers who can speak other languages, especially Spanish, are also needed.
