New car clamped

A Taylors Lakes speedster bought and lost his car on the same day after it was impounded by police. The Brimbank highway patrol used a roadside immobilisation clamp to impound the P-plater’s new car for 30 days after he was caught speeding in Taylors Lakes last Tuesday. Highway patrol members detected the 20-year-old’s VW Golf GTI near Parmelia Way travelling about 60km/h above the 80km/h speed limit. He was carrying four passengers and is expected to be charged with driving at excessive speed.

The owner returned home to find his white 2007 SL65 AMG – one of just five in Australia – gone. A witness saw two men and a tow truck in the area about the time the car went missing.
