How would a bird, plane or Superman see Sunshine? Brimbank art lovers can soon find out provided they view the Remote Edges of Sunshine exhibition before it closes at the Sunshine Art Spaces Gallery on Friday.
Footscray artist Judith Leuenberger has created 47 abstract paintings based on aerial views of the historic suburb. It’s a first for the artist, who usually prefers more intimate works.
“I wanted to portray a new perspective,” she said.
“Many beautiful sights are overlooked … I’ve taken spots like the Sunshine golf range and enhanced its blue and reds.”
Leuenberger has also depicted the Sunshine Marketplace, Sunshine Leisure Centre, the Derrimut Hotel, and Hampshire and Ballarat roads in her works.
They will be on display at the Art Spaces Gallery, 11 Sun Crescent, until March 13.
