SUNBURY: Woman caught with machine gun in car

UPDATE: A Sunbury woman has faced an out-of-sessions court charged with firearms and weapons offences after items including an automatic machine gun were found in her car on Tuesday evening.

Police said the woman’s car was pulled over as part of a routine patrol in Elizabeth Drive shortly after 6.30pm.

A spokeswoman said officers searched the car and found nine guns including an automatic machine gun and several long arms, as well as ammunition.

Machetes, a bow and a conducted energy device were also seized.

Bianca Micallef, 23, was remanded in custody to face Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
