St Albans Heights Primary School pupils put on rubber gloves and scooped up lots of litter last Friday for the national Schools Clean Up Day.
Pupils from all year levels got out of their classrooms to pick up rubbish around the school grounds.
Teacher Marta Rodrigues said the school wanted the pupils to take pride in school property by learning to properly dispose of rubbish.
“We have rubbish bins, but the kids don’t always put their rubbish in them,” Ms Rodrigues said.
“We want to make all our common areas look tidier.”
Hundreds of Brimbank adults followed suit over the weekend for Clean Up Australia Day, with more than 25 sites registered for clean-up activities across the city.
