Three charged with tax fraud

Three men, one from Taylors Lakes and another from Keilor East, were arrested last Thursday as part of a year-long investigation into allegations of taxation fraud and financial structuring offences. The three men are helping Trident taskforce detectives with their inquiries as part of Operation Boscobel. The Brimbank pair are aged 51 and 24. The third man arrested is a 43-year-old from Carlton. The operation is looking into allegations of an illegal ‘off the books’ cash arm within a national security company and money laundering with links to organised crime. Several warrants were executed in October last year, with documents and computer records seized for analysis. The Victoria Police licensing and regulation division also conducted an independent regulatory investigation last year, resulting in the suspension of the company’s – and some individuals’ – corporate security licences.

Road safety a family affair

A free community safety event will be held at Caroline Springs on March 14, with Brimbank and Melton residents being urged to make use of free child restraint fittings, installation of free anti-theft number plate screws, and community and road safety information. Operation Safe Family Day starts 10am at Caroline Springs Square shopping centre carpark. There will be a sausage sizzle, animal farm, jumping castles, and face painting.
