Sydenham-Hillside enjoyed a strong win against Burnside Springs in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association on Saturday. Sydenham dominated on day one of the contest, taking wickets at regular intervals to remove the Springs for 135 in the 62nd over. In reply, Sydenham was 2-50 from 18 overs when stumps were called. When day two began on Saturday, the batting side soon reeled in the remaining 86 runs for victory. Sydenham smashed its way to the target, losing six wickets. In other NWMCA results, Kealba Green Gully enjoyed a big win against Clarkefield Brumbies. After bowling out Clarkefield for 134 on day one, Kealba had no trouble reaching the small target, bringing up the win for the loss of just three wickets.

Premier Cricket

Footscray Edgewater was back to its best on Saturday, enjoying a huge win against Hawthorn-Monash University in Premier Cricket. The victory was set up on day one when Footscray smashed 8-326 at Mervyn Hughes Oval. The Bulldogs were led by wicketkeeper Dylan Kight, who made 120, while Footscray captain Dean Russ also made 40. In reply to the big total, Hawthorn was never in the hunt, losing wickets at regular intervals throughout the run chase to be bowled out for 108. Needing an outright win to keep their finals hopes alive, the Bulldogs sent Hawthorn back in to bat, dismissing the batting side for 110 to secure the 10 points. Jake Haberfield was outstanding for Footscray, taking seven wickets across the two innings.
