Car flips into yard

An allegedly drunk driver came just centimetres from crashing into a Taylors Lakes house after her car flipped and finished up in its front yard. A 43-year-old woman was pulled from the Hyundai sedan, which came to halt on its side in the driveway of the Queen Victoria Crescent property on January 25. The driver refused a police breath test, instead crying and collapsing on her side. A witness said the woman had still been trying to start the car while it was on its side. The driver was taken away by police and later released. She is expected to be charged on summons with drink-driving offences.

Teens face court

Two teenage girls from St Albans and a 14-year-old boy face charges of attacking police officers at Melton railway station. About 9.30pm on January 13, protective service officers spoke to a 15-year-old girl about a theft. The officers allege that when they tried to arrest the girl, they were attacked by the other female, aged 15, and a 14-year-old Melton South boy. Police used pepper spray to subdue the teens, who will be charged on summons with assaulting police and resisting arrest.

Speeding driver’s car impounded

A Taylors Lakes driver had his car impounded after he was caught travelling at 120km/h in a 50km/h zone at Keilor Downs on January 25. The 24-year-old is due to be charged on summons with speeding, dangerous driving and other offences.
