The Keilor Garden Club meets on the last Friday of the month at Keilor Primary school, Kennedy Street, from 8pm. Meet fellow gardeners and share your experiences. Young people are encouraged to attend.

St Albans Gift

The seventh annual St Albans Gift will be run at St Albans Sports Club, 96A Gillespie Road, on January 17, 4-10pm. The free community event has local athletes competing in races and kids’ entertainment.

Brimbank City Widows Group

Bus company CDC Victoria runs a free bus service giving Brimbank widows the chance to visit their relatives and friends at Keilor cemetery. The service runs on the first Tuesday of every month, except November, and picks up its passengers at the St Albans Market.

Movies in the park

Brimbank council and the Sunshine Business Association are offering free twilight entertainment and family-friendly movies during January, February and March at RT Pollard Gardens, 93 Hampshire Road, Sunshine. Next event is this Saturday, January 17. Twilight entertainment begins at 6pm, and the movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, will screen at nightfall. Pack a picnic, chairs and a blanket. This is a ‘dry’ event.

Volunteers needed

The Multiple Sclerosis Community Visitors Scheme is seeking volunteers to join its program in the western metropolitan area. The volunteers are required to visit residents at aged-care facilities, offering companionship once a fortnight. Volunteers who can speak non-English languages, especially Spanish, are also needed.

Young parents

Are you a parent aged 16-25 wanting to meet other young parents in your area, take your children on outings and have them share in fun activities? Free groups meet in Laverton on Mondays from 10-11.30am, at Altona Meadows on Mondays from 1-2.30pm, and
at Sunshine on Fridays from 12.30- 2.30pm.

Keep fit at U3A Brimbank

Join our free exercise class for residents who are 50 and over each Tuesday from 9.30-10.30am at Westvale Community Centre. The class includes basic exercise, Pilates and yoga.

Semi-retired and senior residents in Hillside, Sydenham and Keilor who are seeking social interaction and club activities are invited to attend the Taylors Lakes Probus Club’s monthly meetings at the Taylors Lakes Hotel between 10am and noon on the fourth Monday of the month.

Join this social group for crafty people who meet and chat over a cup of coffee on the first Thursday of each month at the Sydenham library, Taylors Lakes, from 11.30am.
