Mum charged after drugs test

A 28-year-old mother with three children under four in her car has been caught drug-driving in Cairnlea, police allege. They said the unlicensed driver, from Melton South, was tested at a drug bus on Furlong Road, Cairnlea, just before 4pm last Wednesday. She will appear in court charged with unlicensed driving and exceeding the prescribed concentration of drugs.

Train hits car on crossing

Police will step up surveillance at the Main Road level crossing in St Albans after a train struck a car earlier this month. The car, travelling west on Main Road East, drove on to the crossing about 6.30pm on November 7 when the other side was blocked, leaving the rear of the car on the tracks. A city-bound train hit the car, causing major damage to the vehicle and minor damage to the train. No one was hurt.

Cops seize shotgun

Police were called to an address in Alfrieda Street, St Albans, about 4am on November 11 following reports of a disturbance. They arrested a 30-year-old man and seized a sawn-off shotgun. He was remanded in custody.

Man held over gun, cash in car

Police recovered an automatic weapon, a handgun and cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime during a traffic interception in Ballarat Road, Deer Park, on November 10. A 28-year-old Kurunjang man was charged and remanded in custody.
