Singer Jessica Mauboy will be celebrating the release of her album Beautiful: Platinum Edition with a free performance and CD signing at Watergardens Town Centre on Sunday, December 7, from noon at the town square. You must have a copy of Jessica’s CD to enter the signing area.

Carols at the castle

Brimbank council will host the annual Carols at the Castle on Sunday, December 21, from 5pm at Overnewton Castle, Keilor. Tickets cost $10 for a family of five and $5 for singles. Proceeds from their sale go to the Brimbank Community Fund.

Volunteers needed

The Multiple Sclerosis Community Visitors Scheme is seeking volunteers to join its program in the western metropolitan area. Volunteers are required to visit elderly residents in aged-care facilities once a fortnight. Volunteers who can speak other languages, especially Spanish, are also needed.

Young parents

Are you a parent aged 16-25 wanting to meet other young parents in your area, take your children on outings and share fun children’s activities? Free groups meet on Mondays in Laverton from 10-11.30am, Altona Meadows from 1-2.30pm, and Sunshine on Fridays from 12.30-2.30pm.

Trivia night

Brimbank State Emergency Service will host a trivia night on Friday, November 28, at Westend Market Hotel, 47 McIntyre Road, Sunshine. The event will include raffles, silent auctions, live auctions and games. The action starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are $16 or $100 for tables of 10. Bring your own food and snacks; drinks at bar prices.

Keep fit at U3A Brimbank

Join free 50-and-over exercise classes each Tuesday from 9.30-10.30am at Westvale Community Centre. The classes include basic exercise, Pilates and yoga.

Semi-retired and senior residents of Hillside, Sydenham and Keilor are invited to the Taylors Lakes Probus Club’s monthly meetings at the Taylors Lakes Hotel between 10am and noon on the fourth Monday of the month.
