Man arrested over servo attack

A 22-year-old Deer Park man has been arrested in relation to an armed robbery at the Caltex service station at Burnside Heights on October 28. During the incident, a man is alleged to have produced a kitchen knife and demanded cash. No customers were inside the service station at the time of the attack. The Deer Park man has been charged and is expected to be remanded in custody until late December.

Choristers at the castle

Carols at the Castle is on again at Overnewton Castle, Keilor, on December 21. The gardens will open at 5pm and entertainment starts at 7pm featuring Dame Nellie Melba scholar Matthew Reardon, local soprano Victoria Jones, singer Steve Legg, jazz trio Moonshine Whistlers, with MC Yung Philly. Great effort for special kids

Two Sunshine pubs have raised almost $20,000 to help the Very Special Kids Foundation support 220 families across Melbourne’s north and west. Glengala Hotel raised $7784 by holding weekly barbecues for the past four months and a family fun day, while Westend Market Hotel took its tally to $11,951. The donations were part of the $1.15 million raised across Victoria to help families caring for children with life-threatening conditions.
