A child is recovering in a Melbourne hospital after being bitten by snake while on a day trip to the botanic gardens with his family.
The boy, believed to be under three, had been on a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne when the snake bit him on the leg.
Paramedics were called to the gardens just after 11am on Sunday and found the boy had suffered at least one bite to his leg.
He was treated at the scene before he was taken to the Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said.
Snakes have become far more active in recent days due to the sunny weather. Temperatures topped 28 degrees in Melbourne on Sunday.
