Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a 25-year-old inside his home in Clifton Springs, near Geelong, on Monday morning.
He was dropped off home by one relative and less than two hours later, he was found dead in the kitchen by another family member.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane O’Connell said the young man was dropped off home in Panpandi Drive at 9.30am by a relative with whom he had stayed the night at another address.
At 11am, another relative who also lives at the Panpandi Drive house arrived home.
“They came home just to drop some stuff off at the house and went inside to say hello and found him,” Senior Sergeant O’Connell said.
The young man was reportedly stabbed, however Senior Sergeant O’Connell would not confirm this, saying only that the deceased had suffered “trauma injuries”.
There were no signs of a break-in, Senior Sergeant O’Connell said.
He said neighbours had heard nothing of significance, having only seen the young man being dropped off at the home in the morning.
Senior Sergeant O’Connell said the investigation was still in its infancy with forensic officers combing the house for clues.
“We’ll be also speaking to family members to try and piece together what’s gone on today and hopefully get to the bottom of this,” he said.
