The new Brimbank Park playscape has been a big hit with little ones, and now Niddrie MP Ben Carroll is calling on the state government to fund stage two to cater for older children.
Mr Carroll wants the government to provide $500,000 funding to Parks Victoria for it to complete the playscape.
He has also called on the government to provide a date for when the work will be complete.
“Since it opened in February I’ve visited the Brimbank Park playscape on many occasions and it has certainly been embraced by the local community,” Mr Carroll said.
“However, a growing chorus of local families has approached me asking when all the work originally planned for the playground will be completed.
“The community is keen to get started on stage two, with the original plans for the playground to include a flying fox, big slides and climbing pyramid nets.
“These designed and planned additional elements will cater for older kids.”
The $1 million stage one of the project includes a playground for children of all abilities.
There’s a giant Bunjil nest for kids to climb, a maze and build-your-own cubby house equipment.
Mr Smith praised the new playscape and said he had asked Parks Victoria to assess it and the surrounding park and any need for further works.
