Overnewton college: World first for stage wizards from Oz

For Keilor students, it’s time to warm up those vocal chords and get patriotic.

Overnewton Anglican Community College students from the Keilor campus are gearing up for the performance of a lifetime when it becomes the first school in the world to perform the hit Broadway show The Boy from Oz.

The tale of Australian entertainer Peter Allen’s rise to the top was the first Australian musical to make it to Broadway.

Year 12 students Lauren Goetz, Mikaela Farrugia, Erin Williams, Jon Reeves and Fiona Cheung are among the 55 students from years 7 to 12 who have been rehearsing since March.

The show will play at the Darebin Arts Centre from Thursday to Sunday. Tickets are $35 for adults, $25 for children and concession.
