Driver held after police chase

A 22-year-old driver was chased by police at speeds of up to 130kmh in 80kmh zones through Melbourne’s west early Friday morning. The driver failed to stop when asked to by highway patrol police just before 1am and was pursued through Sunshine North, Keilor Downs and Taylors Lakes. The Sunshine West man eventually pulled over and was arrested. His car was seized for
30 days and he was charged with evading police, driving at a dangerous speed and other traffic-related offences.

Cash incentive for future champs

Future sporting stars of Brimbank are being encouraged by Opposition Leader and Maribyrnong MP Bill Shorten to apply for a new round of Local Sporting Champions grants. “I urge any young local athlete, coach or official to apply for a grant to help cover the cost of taking part in their chosen competition,” Mr Shorten said. Park gets a facelift

A $430,000 upgrade of Dalton Drive Reserve in Sunshine West was opened on Saturday. The upgrade includes new play equipment, picnic tables and shelter, shade sails, a barbecue, drinking fountain, park furniture, and pathways.
