Learner faces string of charges

A Braybrook man, 26, has lost his car for a month after being nabbed for an array of offences in Chiltern last Tuesday. Police said a black Holden Commodore was detected passing cars and trucks at up to 159km/h about 6.15pm. The driver was a learner driver, and his female passenger held an expired learner permit. Four children, aged five to 12, were in the back seat. Two of the children were sharing a seatbelt. The driver returned a positive breath test of .074. He will be charged on summons with dangerous driving, speeding, drink driving and other offences.

Library on the move

Sunshine library and customer service centre will be temporarily relocated to make way for construction of a
$52 million Brimbank community and civic centre. The customer service centre will close at noon on August 1 and reopen on August 4 at the Sunshine municipal offices, 6-18 Alexandra Avenue. The library
will close at 5pm on August 3 and reopen at its temporary location in McCracken Street, Sunshine, on
August 11.

Parvovirus warning

Melton council is urging dog owners to vaccinate their animals after an outbreak of the deadly parvovirus in the area. Symptoms include bloody diarrhoea, lethargy, unwillingness to eat and vomiting. For more details, visit www.depi.vic.gov.au/pets.
