Singer Ashleigh Marshall a star on the rise

Ashleigh Marshall is used to taking centre stage.

The western suburbs resident, 14, is a regular competitor in Ballarat’s Royal South Street eisteddfod; she was on TV’s Young Talent Time in 2012 and has performed with a junior glee club in the US.

Ashleigh also won the Stars of the West talent quest, a singing competition run by Brimbank Central Rotary Club.

“I love to perform,’’ she says. ‘‘I was doing it for experience … so winning was a big thing.’’

The year 9 Catholic Regional College student recently scored the role of Tracy Turnblad in the school’s production of Hairspray.

Entries are open for the next Stars of the West quest. Three heats will be held in July and August, with the grand final on August 22.
