Porsche impounded

A disqualified Deer Park driver has lost his Porsche 911 turbo for 30 days after he was detected speeding in Sunshine North last Tuesday. A Brimbank highway patrol officer detected the Porsche allegedly travelling at 132km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Western Ring Road just after 1.30pm. Police said a quantity of drugs, believed to be amphetamines, was located in the vehicle. The 33-year-old was arrested and will be charged on summons with possession of amphetamines, driving while disqualified and exceeding the speed limit.

Albanvale home invaded

Two masked men forced their way into an Albanvale house last week in a terrifying home invasion. Two adults and two children were home when the men forced their way into the Evergreen Avenue property just before 2am on Thursday, a police spokeswoman said. A 30-year-old man confronted the intruders, who threw an unknown substance in his face. Hazardous material crews were called in to identify the substance, which was declared safe, the spokeswoman said. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Update on pool upgrade

Maintenance works at the St Albans Leisure Centre are going full steam ahead, with the indoor pool, spa and sauna likely to reopen by mid-July. The gym, group fitness room, change rooms and creche remain open. Further updates at www.brimbank.vic.gov.au
