It’s a garden that has to be seen to be believed. A veritable zoo of plants has been lovingly grown, clipped and manicured at this front garden in Sunshine West. Bears, turtles and a small zoo of animals is on display. Owner Ick Chu has spent 18 years bringing his topiarian wonderland to life. “Before, this was a display home and they had plants, but I destroyed it all and did it myself,” he said. “I just love it.” Mr Chu, who immigrated to Australia from Laos, said his garden was inspired by the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden in Thailand. His backyard is decked out with a bridge, lighting and waterfall to complement more topiary. People come from all over to inspect Mr Chu’s handiwork and often get the chance to see him in action as he spends hours every day working on his garden, often enlisting the help of friends and family to ‘tame’ his creations.
