Tributes have flooded in for a Taylors Hill man killed in an industrial accident.
Anthony Attard died last Tuesday after being crushed on board a ship at the Toll shipping facility in Port Melbourne.
Mr Attard, aged in his 40s, was helping load cargo onto the Tasmanian when the incident happened about 1.45pm.
His brother and best friend were with him when he died. He is survived by his wife and three children.
Many of Mr Attard’s family and friends gave social media tributes last week.
High school friend Michelle Renda remembered a “true family man and all- round nice guy”.
Maritime Union of Australia secretary Paddy Crumlin said Mr Attard’s death was a tragedy.
“The MUA, its officials, staff and members express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr Attard,” Mr Crumlin said.
“The MUA has long campaigned for better safety and now demands that this crisis in waterfront safety be addressed by regulation.”
Toll Group spokesman Christopher Whitefield said counselling would be offered to all affected by the incident.
He said Toll was conducting a full investigation and was co-operating with authorities.
A WorkSafe spokesman said the authority was investigating the incident and would not comment further.
